- 1.Introduction
-
- ShowILBM is a little utility which makes it possible to display ILBM
- files. It opens its own screen to make all the display modes allowed
- by your Amiga graphic chips available.
-
- This program can only be run under Kickstart v2.04 or higher and
- uses the locale library if it exists. For the moment, only English and
- French are available.
-
- You should notice that this program has never been tested with the
- AGA components.
-
-
- 2.Starting ShowILBM
-
- ShowILBM can either be started from the Workbench or from the Shell.
-
-
- 2.1.Starting from the Workbench
-
- Once ShowILBM has been started by clicking twice on its icon, it
- opens a file requester asking for a picture to display. As soon as a
- file name has been given by the user, it opens a screen and displays
- the picture. It then waits for the user to press a key or a mouse but-
- ton to close the screen.
-
- The following tool types can be used :
-
- MOUSE=ON to tell ShowILBM to display the mouse pointer on the
- screen (by default, the pointer is invisible),
-
- TIMEOUT=<duration> to tell ShowILBM how long the picture should be
- displayed (in seconds). In this case, pressing
- a key or clicking on the mouse buttons will be
- ineffective.
-
-
- 2.2.Starting from the Shell
-
- The syntax is in this case :
-
- ShowILBM [<image>] [REQ] [MOUSE] [TIMEOUT <duration>], where :
-
- <image> is the name of the ILBM file,
-
- REQ tells ShowILBM to display a possible error message in a re-
- quester and not in the Shell window,
-
- MOUSE tells ShowILBM to make the mouse pointer invisible,
-
- TIMEOUT <duration> tells ShowILBM to display the picture <dura-
- tion> seconds.
-
-
- 3.Error messages
-
- ShowILBM can display the following error messages :
-
- "Can't open intuition library v37" :
-
- The intuition library version 37 (or higher) is not available.
- You should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open dos library v37" :
-
- The dos library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open graphics library v37" :
-
- The graphics library version 37 (or higher) is not available.
- You should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open iffparse library v37" :
-
- The iffparse library version 37 (or higher) is not available.
- You should use a more recent Workbench version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open asl library v37" :

- The asl library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Workbench version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Can't open icon library v37" :
-
- The icon library version 37 (or higher) is not available. You
- should use a more recent Kickstart version (at least 2.04).
-
- "Out of memory" :
-
- ShowILBM needs more memory. Try to free some by closing some ap-
- plications or windows.
-
- "Can't read file" :
-
- The chosen file cannot be read. This might be caused by a non-
- existent file name, a disk removed too quickly from the drive, a
- lack of memory, ...
-
- "The file is not an IFF file" :
-
- The chosen file is not an IFF file.
-
- "The file is not an ILBM file" :
-
- The chosen file is not an ILBM file.
-
- "Can't open a screen" :
-
- There isn't enough chip memory to open a screen. Try to free so-
- me by closing some screens and windows and retry. If the problem
- remains, this means that the picture is too big.
-
- "Cannot get screen mode" :
-
- The screen mode needed to display the picture cannot be obtained
- by your Amiga graphic chips.
-
- "Cannot open a window" :
-
- There isn't enough chip memory to open a window. Try to free so-
- me by closing unused screens and windows.
